LIT: A Portrait of Bob Dylan by Lesley Schiff is an unconventional visual biography of an American icon by a pioneer artist.
Granted access to her subject’s archives, Schiff poetically deploys traces of images, instruments, memorabilia and lyrics; weaving together a comprehensive evocation of four of Mr. Dylan’s creative temperaments. COOL, HEAT, TIME and SIMMERING are captured across four multi-image portfolios of Permanent Pigment Prints prints on Hahnemühle Photo Rag® 308 fine art archival paper.
Mr. Dylan's lyrics appear in several of the work's panels, rendered in a typeface designed exclusively for the Portrait by renowned type designer and MacArthur fellow, Matthew Carter.
In addition to the Portrait, Schiff also created a number of individual large-scale works to compliment the suite of multi-image portfolios.
